Where did the tears I shed go?
When I asked myself that, my body suddenly grew warm,
as if a break had opened in the black clouds of the evening sky, letting the light stream through.
No one was on the riverbank after the rain.
In that silence I stood alone,
watching as an immense, unseen gearwork that drives the whole world
began to turn—slowly, heavily, without a sound.
The tremor born from that vast machinery
was what set my body aflame.
